Carry-On Luggage

Sometimes I get asked the strangest things.

Someone asked me today about if they could carry onto a domestic air flight, a can of softdrink. Imported stuff mind you. I could have said the obvious to them, but I decided not to since they obviously hadn't really thought about it very hard in my opinion.

So, I got them to look up the carry-on restrictions, and they got a bit concerned because it said metal... wha? When I read it, I came to realise, they didn't understand the full sentence that it is sharp objects or knives, metal or other. I.e. metal or non metal sharp objects (like a knife). Hmm.

In any case, I told them, well, it's not listed so it should be ok. They then said, but you can hit someone with the can and hurt them... my reply was "so can a fist...".

In the end, they decided it was safe to bring it with them.
This is understandable if you are going on an international flight, but for most domestic flights, the issue of terrorism in a softdrink can isn't really that big.

As for the obvious thing, if you get served food on a flight and you ask for a softdrink... what is one of the options they carry? A 300mL can.... which, you could request, and then bash someone on the head with.... LOL...
